Drug peddler arrested, large quantity of Charas seized in Jammu’s Akhnoor
Jammu, Feb 23 (KNO): A notorious drug peddler was arrested and a large quantity of charras was seized from his possession in Jammu’s Akhnoor district, police said.
In a statement issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that on February 22, a police team from Jourian police post led by SHO P/S Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar assisted by Inspector Kunal Singh Jamwal while on naka duty at Potha area of Jourian rounded up a suspect namely Ranjit Sharma S/O Ram Lal R/O Badral Tehsil Akhnoor on a motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK02AW-1472.
“After searching the vehicle, 13 Challis of Charas (weighing 250 Gms) was recovered from his illegal possession,” he said. “On this, case FIR No. 45/2021 U/s 8/20 NDPS Act got registered at P/S Akhnoor and accused got arrested.”
The statement further said that Jammu Police is striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace. “We request people of the area to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption on 9086100100 or 100 with Police for the cause. Your identity will be kept confidential,” the police statement added—(KNO)
