Bandipora residents rue delayed shifting of district hospital Bandipora to new building
Will talk to administration about shifting of remaining department to new hospital building: Director Health Kashmir
Bandipora, Nov 20 (KNO): The residents of north Kashmir’s Bandipora are aghast over the failure of the concerned authorities to shift all sections of district hospital Bandipora to new hospital complex for the last more than four months.
The residents told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the new hospital building was under construction for the last more than 15 years and was completed four months ago, however, the authorities have failed to shift all the sections from an old building to the new hospital complex.
They said that only a few non-emergency sections have been shifted to new hospital complex at Nusoo village of Bandipora while rest of the sections including emergency section and OPD are still running from the old and dilapidated building.
“It has now been more than four months when the non-emergency sections were shifted to the new building but we fail to understand the logic behind non-shifting of emergency sections even as the locals have to face a lot of problems,” the residents said.
The locals said that while some sections have been made functional at new building but few sections continue to remain functional in the old building and people have to face a lot of problems.
“A few days ago I had to get some documents verified and I was asked to visit the new hospital complex but when I reached there I was told to visit old hospital building saying that the concerned section is functional there. It took me 3 hours to get my work done as the tow buildings are at a distance of 1 km away from each other,” said Sameer Ahmad, who is pursuing a diploma in medical sciences from a private college.
He said that the residents still do not know which section of district hospital is running from which building.
Similarly, a group of people also complained about the same and said that they are made to run from pillar to post even for getting treatment for a minor ailment, as they have no idea which section is functional in which building.
When contacted, director health services Kashmir, Sameer Mattoo said that they have shifted half of the departments to the new hospital building that are fully functional.
He also said he would talk to the administration about the shifting of remaining departments to newly constrict hospital complex—(KNO)
