One killed two injured as snow avalanche hits Army post at Kupwara’s Sadhna Pass

Kupwara, Nov 18 (KNO): A soldier was killed while two others suffered injuries after a snow valance hit a post at Sadhna pass in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday a snow mass hit the Roshan Army post adjacent to Sadhna Pass and washed away three soldiers while one of the three affected succumbed later.

He said that all the three were evacuated from the scene and moved to a nearby medical facility for the treatment where one among the trio succumbed to the injuries.

He identified the slain soldier as Nikhil Sharma and the injured as Ramesh Chand and Gurvinder Singh who are being treated and are stated to be out of danger. The official also said that the rescue operation launched was concluded only after the team assured that nothing else is lying and everything is safe and stable—(KNO)
