Yet again, massive forest fire breaks out in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Nov 12 (KNO): A massive fire broke out in a forest area near Chattergul Block in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district following which the firefighters rushed to the spot to douse the flames, officials said on Thursday.

Notably, this is the fourth forest fire incident in the district in the last six days.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire engulfed in compartment number 08/ 09/MBL of Chattergul Block forest range, during which dozens of trees got destroyed.

“The fire later spread to the adjoining compartments of the forest area,” they said.

Meanwhile, locals said that massive fire has caused extensive damage to the forest area, adding that the fire has spread to a vast area as the concerned officials failed to douse the flames on time.

The officials, however, said after receiving the information, a team of officials and firefighters was sent to the spot and they are trying to control the fire from spreading.

They also said that many firefighters have also received injures while dousing the flames—(KNO)
