Total cases 61,041, 966 deaths; Active cases over 20,500 in UT

Srinagar, Sep 18 (KNO): The toll of COVID-19 positive cases and deaths due to the deadly virus are witnessing no respite in Jammu and Kashmir as 1330 fresh cases were detected on Friday while 15 patients who were tested positive earlier have died in the Union Territory.

According to the figures available, the toll of positive cases has mounted to 61,041 while the death toll has soared to 966 in the Union Territory. Of the total 61,041 cases, 39,786 are from Kashmir and 21,255 from Jammu division.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,330 new cases, 658 belong to Kashmir division while as 672 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 39,786 including 30,082 recoveries and 757 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 21,255 including 9,223 recoveries and 209 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 20,770 including 8,947 from Kashmir division and 11,823 from Jammu division.

With 784 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 39,305 which is 64.39 percent of the total cases and was over 78 percent over two weeks back.

Notably, for the first time since COVID-19 outbreak, the active positive cases have mounted to 20,770 in Jammu and Kashmir while active cases in Jammu division are more than recovered cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 237 from Srinagar, 62 from Budgam, 64 from Baramulla, 41 from Pulwama, 60 from Anantnag, 65 from Bandipora, 52 from Kupwara, 44 from Ganderbal, 19 from Kulgam and 14 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 672 from Jammu division include 221 from Jammu, 62 from Rajouri, 31 from Udhampur, 42 from Kathua, 86 from Doda, 53 from Samba,77 from Poonch, 47 from Ramban, 97 from Doda, 18 from Reasi and 35 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

Besides, 15 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died in the last 24 hours, which include five from Kashmir division and ten from Jammu division.

As per the media bulletin, patients who have died in Kashmir division include one each from Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Bandipora and Kulgam and 10 from Jammu division include three from Jammu, two from Doda and one each from Rajouri, Udhampur, Kuthua, Poonch and Ramban.

As per officials figures, 12,637 positive cases including 261 deaths and 102,85 recoveries are from Srinagar, 4,217 including 75 deaths and 2,508 recoveries are from Budgam, 3,726 including 2,542 recoveries and 114 deaths are from Baramulla, 3,413 including 2,864 recoveries and 63 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,151 including 54 deaths and 2,295 recoveries are from Anantnag, 3,083 including 2,034 recoveries and 31 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,079 cases including 2,093 and 60 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,410 including 1,792 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,154 including 1,966 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kulgam and 1,916 including 1,703 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 9,650 including 3,343 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Jammu district, 1,923 including 878 recoveries and 20 deaths are from Rajouri, 1,716 including 959 recoveries and 09 deaths are from Udhampur, 1,619 including 989 recoveries and 14 deaths are from Kathua, 1,350 including 507 recoveries and 17 deaths are from Doda, 1,296 including 651 recoveries and 10 deaths are from Samba, 1,239 including 437 recoveries and 07 deaths are from Poonch, 969 including 685 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Ramban, 701 including 385 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Reasi and 792 including 389 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 538,621 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 28,841 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 20,770 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 422,498 persons have completed surveillance period and 65,546 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,345,750 samples are available.

Out of 1,345,750 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,284,709 while 61,041 have tested positive, among them 20,770 are active and 39,305 persons have recovered—(KNO)
