Four newly recruited militants arrested at LoC
Four militants were arrested after engaging security forces in a brief gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, army said on Sunday.
The militants, all newly recruited, were believed to be crossing into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir for training. It’s still unconfirmed what group they belonged to, but news reports said that army and state police surrounded them and asked them to surrender. Four militants gave in, but three escaped under the cover of the firing that followed.
Separately, security forces on Sunday said they have arrested four youths who had joined militant ranks recently from Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A day after pictures showing the youth holding AK Rifles went viral on social media, the security forces including personnel from 41 Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of the state police launched a search operation in Kalaroos forests on Saturday.
