Around 250 militants still active in Jammu and Kashmir: Lt General AK Bhatt
Describing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in control, Lt General AK Bhatt on Sunday said that around 250 militants are still active in the Valley.
Bhatt, General Officer command GOC Chinar Corp (15 Corp), added that 200 more militants are waiting on the launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) for infiltration in J&K.
Talking about last week’s encounter in Anantnag in which four militants of ISIS-affiliated group ISJK were killed, he said that IS is now almost over in the region.
Bhatt added that said security situation in Kashmir is in control with joint mechanism of security agencies in the state.
Lt. Gen A K Bhatt on Sunday accompanied Army Chief General Bipin Rawat who visited forward posts along the LoC to review the situation.
When asked about the widely-circulated violent videos of the Army targeting local houses during encounters, he said, “These kinds of videos are being circulated on social media by Pakistan to give an impression in world that human rights are being violated in J&K.
