Teacher suspended for beating minor student in Ganderbal
A teacher was suspended on Friday for assaulting a minor student at a State-run school in Mamar village of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Chief Education Officer Ganderbal Sheikh Gayas ud din, who visited the school today, said the accused teacher has been placed under suspension. “It seems that the girl student has been ruthlessly beaten by the teacher. I have ordered his suspension,” Din told Greater Kashmir.
The action came after the parents of the nine-year-old girl and locals padlocked the school today morning to protest the beating.
The protesters blocked Srinagar-Leh highway, disrupting the traffic movement for some time.
“We won’t let the school function till action is not taken against the teacher involved in the act,” they had said.
