Kashmir witnessed 164 incidents of braid chopping in 2017: Govt
ammu Kashmir Government Thursday said that 164 incidents of braid chopping occurred in Kashmir in 2017.
The government provided a district wise detail about the braid chopping incidents in a written reply to the question of three National Conference legislators.
Following are the district wise details:
- Srinagar: 38
- Budgam: 22
- Ganderbal: 6
- Anantnag: 26
- Pulwama: 17
- Kulgam: 25
- Shopian: 05
- Baramulla 09
- Bandipora: 10
- Kupwara: 06
The government also said that three people were arrested following the braid chopping incidents.
The arrested trio have been identified as Mohammad Aslam Shah, Adil Ahmad Shah and Zareefa.
Aslam and Adil are residents Bamroda Khag, Budgam, Zareefa is a resident of Shalkoote village of Balhama area of district Baramulla.
The government also said that no compensation was given to the victims.
