Intense clashes around encounter site in Shopian, 12 civilians injured
Srinagar: At least 12 protesters sustained injuries after government forces fired pellets to disperse hundreds of civilians around the gunfight site in Shopian village on Tuesday.
Local sources said that protesters pelted stones on forces to disrupt the anti-militancy operation in Wanpora, Batamarun area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district where a gunfight between militants and forces was going on since Monday evening.
They said that forces used tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters injuring at least twelve, mostly with pellets.
Two militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight in the south Kashmir village, police said.
