Kulgam police arrests 3 drug peddlers, contraband substance seized
November 21: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Kulgam arrested 03 drug peddlers including a lady and seized contraband substance.
Acting on specific information received about the involvement of a lady in drug dealings & peddling of contraband substances from her residential house, Devsar Police registered a case FIR No: 82/2019 under relevant sections of law. Subsequently a team comprising of a Magistrate, officers from Police Station Devsar along with lady police contingent raided the house of lady located in the area.
During the search of the house, contraband substance which includes 3.41 grams Brown Sugar, 120 grams charas, syringes & spoons used for liquidating drugs were seized by the team.
Lady involved in the drug trade has been identified as Ruby Jan resident of Malipora. The other two associates of Ruby Jan who are also involved in the drug peddling were also arrested from her house. They have been identified as Muneeb Majeed Haji & Arif Iqbal Khan, both residents of Khawaja Mir Janglatmandi Anantnag. All the three drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Devsar where they remain in custody. Officers have also seized a vehicle bearing registration number JK03C-0006 used in the peddling of drugs.
Further investigation in the matter is in progress.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.

Anantnag Police organised Workshop on Forensic Science, Evidence Collection
November 21: Continuing its drive to create awareness among Investigating Officers, Anantnag Police organised one day Workshop on Forensic Science & Evidence Collection.
The workshop was organized at conference hall DPO Anantnag. ASP Anantnag was the chief guest at the event. He congratulated HOD Forensic Science Laboratory Anantnag Dr Azim Manzoor Bhat for taking this initiative.
The workshop was attended by a large number of Investigating Officers from the District, Prosecution officers and other officers involved in crime investigation. ASP Anantnag in his address underscored the importance of evidence extracted from scene of crime.
The main objective of the workshop was to acquaint the concerned with the basic understanding of Forensic evidence and its relevance in the Court of Law.
Dr Azim Manzoor Bhat presented a brief account of Forensic Science Laboratory Anantnag before the audience and highlighted the relevance of new techniques like DNA profiling, Cyber detection and Lie Detection in making the task of crime detection scientific and irrefutable.
Chief Prosecuting Officer Anantnag also attended the workshop and gave a detailed presentation on the value of evidence.
Participants thanked district police Anantnag for organizing such programs which add to the skill & knowledge of Investigating Officers.
