Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said indulging in acts of vandalism and damaging property is no way helping the cause of justice for the little girl, who was sexually assaulted in Sumbal in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on May 8.

The Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Shahid Choudhary reacting to violence by students said there was no reason for students to be out of their classes when proceedings have already been fast tracked.

The J&K Peoples Movement (JKPM) chief politician Shah Faesal said those who vandalised public infrastructure and broke ambulances should not be spared.

Students of different colleges, including Amar Singh College (ASC), boycotted their classes and clashed with the government forces, who responded with bursting teargas shells on Tuesday.
