Moderate rain, snow likely from this evening: MeT
The night temperatures in parts of Kashmir valley and Ladakh region remained below the freezing point on Friday.
The Met department official said moderate rain and snow is likely to occur in Jammu and Kashmir from Friday evening.
“Inclement weather during the next 48 hours can affect surface connectivity between the Valley and outside,” the official said.
Kargil recorded the night’s lowest temperature at minus 18.6 degrees Celsius while neighbouring Leh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 14.5, Met office said.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 3.2 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.
Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 10.0 degrees Celsius.
The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 4.6 degrees.
Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 1.0 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius last night.
Jammu recorded a low of 4.5 degrees Celsius while Batote recorded 1.1, Banihal recorded 2.7, and Bhaderwah recorded minus 2.0 degree Celsius.
