Uproar in J&K Assembly over Srinagar attack; govt admits lapse
Admitting security lapse in Tuesday’s terror attack at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, the J&K Government on Wednesday announced a thorough investigation to look into such lapses.Two cops of Jammu and Kashmir Police were killed and a dreaded Pakistani terrorist managed to escape after the attack.Reacting to the demand of opposition members, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri on Wednesday announced in the Assembly that the government would investigate security lapses in the incident. He said the opposition’s concerns were genuine.
Earlier, as soon as the proceedings of the House began opposition members vociferously raised the issue of Tuesday’s terror attack.National Conference member Ali Mohammad Sagar said the attack has exposed the tall claims of the state government. He said that on the one hand, the state government is claiming that the situation is conducive for conducting panchayat elections, but on the other, militants struck in the heart of Srinagar.
