Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today lambasted National Conference president and former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah for making opt -repeated statements that India can’t retrieve Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) from Pakistan.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the District Working Committee meeting at Basohli,   he said it has been a habit with NC leader of making such contradictory statements whenever he is out of power and there is nothing new in it.
Dr Nirmal Singh, while ridiculing Farooq Abdullah’s statement said when he was in power he is on record having said that India should bombard the terrorist camps in PoK and free that portion of J&K’s territory which is under illegal occupation of Pakistan but now when he is out of power he is saying that India can’t liberate PoK.
Maintaining that NC leader is mistaken, Dr Singh reminded him the 1994 joint Parliament resolution under which the nation is committed to get the PoK liberated from Pakistan and said there is no deviation from this stand.
Later addressing the Working Committee, the Deputy Chief Minister exhorted the Party cadres to gear up for the Panchayat elections. He said the Panchayat elections will be held in the State soon and they will be followed by the Local Bodies elections.
He took both opposition parties NC and Congress to task for unnecessarily criticising the coalition in the State and finding fault in its policies as both parties are in deep frustration after losing the power and they can’t digest that BJP and PDP are in the Government in the State. Both the parties believe in negative politics and were misleading the common masses, he added.
Dr Singh asserted that the coalition doesn’t want that the Panchayats should remain defunct and they are committed to empower them on the same pattern as has been done in other parts of the country. He urged the party men to give a befitting reply to opposition parties by highlighting the good work done by coalition and the new projects brought by it for overall development of the State.
Dr Nirmal Singh said that the dedicated activists of BJP form the backbone of party as this is a cadre based party which unlike other parties has true internal democracy in which any person from the ground can work hard and reach up to the highest post. “Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is a living example that how a person with no political familial background or economic power can do wonders’’, he said and appreciated the role of whole timers of party in extending the base of party to the remotest of places. He prompted the activists to work for strengthening of booth level structure of party.
Dr. Singh said that presently all the activists have to shift towards Panchayat and local bodies elections which are round the corner. These elections will be followed by Parliamentary and then Assembly elections in the State and so every party worker has to gear up for them. He also asked women to come forward and play their active role in the politics and announced that BJP stands for total empowerment of women.
MLA Bani Jeevan Lal delivered presidential address in which he detailed about political and organizational activities of district during past three months. He also said that as an elected representative of people, he is serving people with all his might and appealed to party workers to work as a team at every single booth of region.
