Authorities on Thursday evening placed Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest. Sources said that a posse of policemen was deployed outside the Nigeen residence of the Mirwaiz to prevent him from moving out.
Restrictions will be imposed in parts of Downtown Srinagar on Friday to prevent protests, officials said.
